The Damnation Audio Contour Pre kind of skirts the line of "Original Heavy Circuits" because like most things in this business, it's not completely original and not exclusively heavy. But it sounds great so I give it a pass and I hope you will too!
The impetus behind the Contour Pre was my love of the Contour button on the old Sunn Coliseum 300 amps. The amp never made the final cut but that little button always stuck with me. I eventually decided to build my own and realized that my tastes had changed and the mid-scoop was too much for me to handle. After sitting on the shelf for a few years, I got inspired to build another one. My tastes had a reversal of sorts and I decided after years of playing razor flat or mid-forward rigs, I wanted to inject some thickness and punch back into my live sound.
I went back to the beginning to capture the soul of the original circuit but made some revisions to modernize the design to be more subtle and less in-your-face. It doesn't set out to cut your mids like many EQ circuits but it does boost the lows and highs about 4-6dB which makes your tone instantly thicker and helps boring amps or lifeless pedals stand out in the mix.
Gain: Controls the amount of input gain.
Use only 9VDC 2.1mm center negative (boss-style) power adapters. Isolated pedal specific power supplies are highly recommended. Damnation Audio pedals are designed for maximum headroom and ideal performance with a 9V supply. Going above 9VDC will damage your pedal and void any warranties. Damnation Audio pedals do not accept 9V batteries.
